What it does
Section titled “What it does”The Radioactive Quantum Entangloporter moves radioactive chemicals, such as Spent Nuclear Waste and any other chemical Mekanism marks as radioactive, between blocks that share a radioactive frequency, without the waste ever crossing an ordinary Entangloporter. Everything else (items, fluids, ordinary gases, energy, heat) is the job of Mekanism’s own Quantum Entangloporter.
- Radioactive frequencies are a separate family from Mekanism’s Inventory frequencies: no other Entangloporter, Receiver or Controller uses them. They work like Mekanism’s frequencies: Public, Trusted (the owner and the players the owner trusts) and Private, with a name and an owner; only the owner can delete one. You pick, create and delete them in the Radioactive Frequencies window, which is Mekanism’s own frequency window with its Public, Trusted and Private icons, opened from the block’s frequency tab. A frequency that still holds radioactive waste cannot be deleted.
- A local buffer of 64,000 mB in each block, for one chemical at a time. Reception is deliberately slow: 10 mB per tick for each receiver.
- What a block does with its gas follows its chemical faces, as on a Quantum Entangloporter: a face set to input fills the buffer and the block sends that gas to the other blocks on its frequency; a face set to output empties the buffer, and the block receives gas from its frequency; a face set to both does both. Gas a block received from the network is never sent back to it, and a block alone on its frequency serves nobody, not even itself. A block with no chemical face switched on does nothing and keeps its gas.
- Its own energy reserve of 1,000,000 J pays for the transfers: 100 J per mB at each end of a transfer, each end paying its own price. Energy that enters through a face fills the reserve first. The reserve never comes out through a face; without energy the block stops and keeps what it holds.
- Energy Upgrades. The block takes Mekanism’s standard Energy Upgrade in the usual upgrade tab. Each upgrade raises the reserve (up to 10 MJ with eight upgrades at Mekanism’s default) and lowers the price of a transfer (down to 10 J per mB). Taking an upgrade out brings the stored energy back within the new capacity.
- Dismantling is refused while the buffer holds anything, with a message that says why. The reserve does not lock the block and is lost when the block is broken. The block cannot be broken by hand, by block breakers, by Mekanism’s Cardboard Box, by explosions, or by the Wither or the Ender Dragon while it is locked.
Crafting
Section titled “Crafting”- 4 × Plutonium Pellet
- 2 × HDPE Sheet
- 2 × Polonium Pellet
- 1 × Quantum Entangloporter
Result: 1 Radioactive Quantum Entangloporter. (Earlier versions used Blocks of Lead and Atomic Alloy; the recipe changed in 1.2.)
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”- Craft a Quantum Entangloporter (Mekanism) first: it is an ingredient of the recipe above.
- Place the Radioactive Quantum Entangloporter wherever you want a radioactive-capable network endpoint.
- Open its screen and choose or create a radioactive frequency from the frequency tab.
- Use the chemical side-configuration tab (or a Configurator) to switch on the faces you need: input on the block that collects the waste, output on the blocks that should receive it.
- Pipe Spent Nuclear Waste (or another radioactive chemical) into an input face: it fills the local buffer and is shared, at 10 mB per tick for each receiver, with the other blocks on the frequency.
- Put an Energy Upgrade in the upgrade tab if the 1,000,000 J reserve is not enough for your flow, and bring energy through an energy face: transfers stop when the reserve is empty.
The interface
Section titled “The interface”
The screen is Mekanism’s grey machine frame with its usual tabs. Its centre is a dark security console with a hazard-striped frame:
- a dial of 18 segments with the radiation mark at its centre, filling with the buffer, with the percentage under it; from 90 % full the dial turns red;
- the name of the chemical held and the amount against 64,000 mB;
- a bar for the block’s Energy reserve, with the text Waiting: no energy in yellow when it is empty;
- when the block still holds radioactive matter from an earlier version, an old stock line. There is no button to dump it: it stays in the block until it leaves through an output face.
Mekanism’s own tabs surround it: the frequency tab opens the frequency window; the configuration and transporter tabs set the chemical faces; the Energy tab shows the reserve; the upgrade, security and redstone tabs sit on the right. There is no setting for sending or receiving on the screen: the direction comes from the faces.

Automation
Section titled “Automation”- Chemical faces are set per face like any Mekanism machine: an input face takes radioactive chemicals in, an output face gives them out.
- Breaking the block is refused while its buffer (or any older stock) holds something; empty it through an output face first (there is no dump button). A block that holds nothing breaks and drops like Mekanism’s own Entangloporter.
- Radioactive frequencies are saved with the world. Deleting a frequency unlinks the blocks on it at the next tick and loses nothing: their buffers stay in each block.
Configuration
Section titled “Configuration”No dedicated section in mekanismengineering-server.toml. The older shared radioactive stock on an Inventory frequency, if
any, keeps the size Mekanism’s configuration gave it (quantum_entangloporter.chemicalBuffer, 8,192,000 mB by default).
| Fixed value | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 64,000 mB | Local buffer of one block (one chemical at a time). |
| 10 mB per tick | What each receiver takes. |
| 1,000,000 J | Energy reserve with no upgrade. |
| 100 J per mB | Price of a transfer at each end, with no Energy Upgrade. |
Updating from 1.1.1 and the betas
Section titled “Updating from 1.1.1 and the betas”- Saves from 1.1.1 load unchanged. A block starts with an empty buffer and an empty reserve.
- The radioactive stock that earlier versions kept on an Inventory frequency is not lost: it stays in the block, can only be emptied through an output face, never filled, and still locks the block while it holds something.
- Any non-radioactive gas the block held is emptied automatically when the world loads, and nothing is released into the world: no radiation.
- A block that was linked to an ordinary Inventory frequency is unlinked from it when the world loads, without destroying the frequency or anything in it. It is the block that changes: Mekanism’s own Quantum Entangloporter keeps serving that frequency.
- A stored chemical whose mod was removed is kept and becomes usable again if the mod returns.
Tips and troubleshooting
Section titled “Tips and troubleshooting”- Cannot break it? Its buffer or its older stock holds radioactive matter. Move it out through an output face, then break the block.
- Nothing moves. Check the reserve: with no energy the block stops and keeps its gas. Check that one block on the frequency has an input face and another an output face.
- The receiver is slow. That is by design: 10 mB per tick for each receiver.
- Overlay mods (Jade, WTHIT, The One Probe) read nothing from the inside of this block, so a private frequency stays private; the addon’s own Jade and WTHIT overlay shows the frequency only to players allowed to use it (see JEI, Jade and WTHIT).
In-game texts
Section titled “In-game texts”What the game itself shows for this item: the description under Shift, the tooltips and the JEI information page, word for word.
Radioactive Quantum Entangloporter
- Description (hold Shift)
- Quantum Entangloporter that carries radioactive chemicals, and only those, over gas frequencies of its own, from emitting blocks to receiving ones.
- JEI · Role
- Carries radioactive chemicals, and nothing else, over gas frequencies of its own (Public, Trusted or Private).
- JEI · Supply
- Radioactive chemicals in its own 64,000 mB buffer; energy for the gas in its own 1 MJ reserve (100 J per mB at each end; Energy Upgrades raise the reserve and lower the price, as in Mekanism's machines). It carries no items, fluids or heat.
- JEI · Result
- Gas goes from the emitting blocks to the receiving ones, 10 mB per tick for each receiver.
- JEI · Good to know
- Gas frequencies are separate from Inventory frequencies: no other Entangloporter or Receiver sees them. Only radioactive chemicals pass through this block: every face refuses an ordinary gas. A block of an earlier version that was linked to an Inventory frequency unlinks itself when it loads, and an ordinary gas it held is emptied then, without radiation.
- JEI · Good to know
- While its buffer holds gas, or an old radioactive stock remains on its former frequency, dismantling is locked. Empty it before dismantling.
- JEI · Good to know
- The radioactive stock that earlier versions left on an Inventory frequency can now only be emptied through this block, never filled. Empty it before deleting that frequency: the native screen's protection does not cover every way of deleting.
