Industrial Fluid Pump

One 3 × 3 × 3 endgame pump instead of a hundred Electric Pumps.

⟲ Drag to turn
TypeMultiblock (3 × 3 × 3, placed in one go)
Size3 × 3 × 3 blocks (one main block, 26 invisible structure blocks placed automatically)
Energy32,000 J/t (12,800 FE/t) without upgrades, Mekanism’s own upgrade formula; 16,000,000 J (6,400,000 FE) stored (quantum_fluid_pump.energyUsage / energyStorage)
UpgradesSpeed, Energy, Filter, Muffling, Anchor (Mekanism’s own Upgrade item); the Source Stabilizer Upgrade in its own slot
Side configurationyes (Mekanism), fluids and energy on any of its three ports

The Industrial Fluid Pump does not reach into the world by itself: it pumps through the far end of a Mekanism Mechanical Pipe network plugged into its intake port. Run pipes from the pump to a body of water or lava; the far end of that line must sit inside the fluid source itself (the pipe becomes fluid‑logged), or be filled by a bucket. A pipe that only sits next to or above a source does not prime it. The fluid then travels along the pipe network like any Mekanism fluid, until it reaches the pump’s own tank.

  • Water flows without end: the source stays in place, exactly like Mekanism’s Electric Pump.
  • Heavy water comes from pumping water with a Filter Upgrade installed (Mekanism’s own upgrade, maximum one): the pump gives Mekanism’s own heavy water amount per bucket (10 mB), scaled down by a configured share.
  • Lava is normally consumed: each source block taken is a real change to the world, so the pump caps how many it takes in one tick and searches for more within a radius of the intake.
  • Lava kept by the Source Stabilizer Upgrade stays in place instead of being consumed, and never runs out.
  • Fluids from other mods are treated like lava: their source blocks are consumed, searched and capped the same way.

Only one fluid is ever in the tank at a time; nothing is mixed, and nothing is destroyed. If the intake’s fluid changes while the tank still holds the old one, the pump empties what it has before switching.

  • 2 × any Atomic Alloy
  • 1 × Electric Pump
  • 1 × Ultimate Fluid Tank
  • U: any Ultimate Control Circuit (c:circuits/ultimate), ×4
  • Q: Quantum Entangloporter, ×1
  • A: any Atomic Alloy (mekanism:alloys/atomic), ×2
  • E: Electric Pump, ×1
  • T: Ultimate Fluid Tank, ×1

Result: 1 Industrial Fluid Pump.

This is a special crafting recipe: the Electric Pump at the centre can already hold energy, a fluid and upgrades, and they carry over into the new pump. The Electric Pump’s inventory does not need to be emptied first: any item that does not fit the result (a bucket, a spare battery…) comes back as a normal crafting remainder, never destroyed or copied into the pump.

Source Stabilizer Upgrade

Installed in the pump’s own Source Stabilizer slot (sneak + right-click the pump with it in hand): lava sources stay in place while the pump draws them, for more energy.

  • P: Polonium Pellet, ×2
  • A: any Atomic Alloy (mekanism:alloys/atomic), ×2

Result: 1 Source Stabilizer Upgrade.

  1. Craft the pump (see above). Using an already‑upgraded Electric Pump keeps its energy, fluid and upgrades.
  2. Clear a 3 × 3 × 3 space and place the pump. Breaking any of its 27 blocks later drops a single item carrying everything inside (tank, energy, upgrades, Source Stabilizer).
  3. From the intake face (left by default, as seen facing the front), run Mekanism Mechanical Pipes to a source of water or lava. The last pipe of that line must be fluid‑logged: placed inside the source, or filled with a bucket.
  4. Feed the back face with energy.
  5. Connect a pipe or tank to the output face (right by default) to receive the fluid; without one, the pump fills its own tank and then reports “Output blocked”.
  6. Open the screen to read its lines. Shift‑right‑click any of the pump’s 27 blocks with a Speed, Energy, Filter, Muffling or Anchor Upgrade in hand to install it; do the same with a Source Stabilizer Upgrade to keep lava sources instead of consuming them.

Industrial Fluid Pump interface

  • Fluid gauge (left): the pump’s own tank and what it currently holds (hover it for the exact amount).

  • Inner screen (middle), three lines and sometimes a fourth:

    1. the fluid: what the tank holds or, if the tank is empty, the fluid the intake would pump next (“No fluid” if none);
    2. the flow, such as “Pumping · 16,000 mB/t” (grey when the pump isn’t pumping);
    3. the input, always: “Input: OK”, or the cause when the intake is the problem (orange);
    4. a fourth line only when the state needs one (see the table below).

Hovering the screen gives the state in full, then “Intake: N blocks down” (or “up”, “same level”, “none”), “Output: connected” or “Output: nothing connected”, “N intakes found: the nearest is used” when there are several, and “The intake pipes carry N mB a tick at most”.

  • Energy bar and energy tab (right): stored energy, with Mekanism’s usual warning when there is not enough for a tick.

  • Source Stabilizer row (under the screen): the slot, its name, and “Installed” or “Empty”. Hover it for the detail: “Installed: lava kept”, “Installed: waits for lava” (no lava source has reached the intake yet) or “Empty: lava is taken”. An empty slot shows a ghost Source Stabilizer Upgrade.

The pump always says why it is not moving fluid, never just waiting silently.

LineTextMeaning
InputInput: OKAn intake, a source and an accepted fluid are found; whatever stops the pump after that is the fourth line.
InputInput: searchingLooking for an intake pipe network and a valid source.
InputInput: no intakeNo port is set to intake, or no pipe is plugged into it.
InputInput: area unloadedA pipe of the intake line is in an unloaded chunk.
InputInput: no sourceThe source the pump was using is gone, or no more lava (or other fluid) sources are within the search radius.
InputInput: incompatible fluidThis fluid’s flow is configured to zero on the server.
InputInput: shared networkThe intake and one of the pump’s outputs share the same pipe network.
InputInput: network too largeThe intake’s pipe network is bigger than the configured limit.
Fourth lineOutput blockedThe tank (or the network beyond it) has no room left.
Fourth lineInsufficient energyNot enough energy for a tick: nothing moves.
Fourth lineChanging fluid: emptyingThe tank or the pipes still hold the previous fluid; it leaves first.
Fourth lineStopped by redstoneRedstone control is holding the pump off.
Fourth lineSlowed by the pipesPumping, but the intake network’s pipes carry less than the pump could send.
Fourth lineHeavy water / Stabilized lavaInformation: the Filter Upgrade is making heavy water, or the Source Stabilizer is keeping a lava source.

By default the intake is on the left, the output on the right and energy on the back (all as seen facing the front); the front, top and bottom carry no port. Every one of the three ports can be reconfigured through Mekanism’s own side‑configuration tab, for fluids and for energy, on any of the pump’s 27 blocks. A comparator against the output port reads the tank’s fill level, like any Mekanism fluid tank.

Breaking the pump, from any of its blocks, drops a single item that keeps its tank, its energy, its Speed, Energy, Filter, Muffling and Anchor Upgrades, and its Source Stabilizer Upgrade if one is installed.

  • “Input: searching” or “Input: no intake”: make sure a Mechanical Pipe network runs from the intake face all the way to a source, and that the last pipe of the line is placed inside the source (or filled with a bucket): a dry pipe merely touching or overlooking the source does not count.
  • “Slowed by the pipes”: the intake network’s total pipe capacity is below what the pump could send. Mekanism’s pipe tiers add up per network (Basic 2,000 mB, Advanced 8,000 mB, Elite 32,000 mB, Ultimate 128,000 mB); use bigger or more pipes on that line.
  • “Input: shared network”: the intake pipe line and one of the pump’s own outputs ended up connected to the same network. Separate them, or the pump would be pushing its own output back into its intake.
  • Lava sources without a Source Stabilizer run out eventually (the search only reaches so far); install a Source Stabilizer Upgrade for an endless supply, at four times the energy cost: and never less than 50 J per mB, whatever Energy Upgrades are installed, so stabilized lava can never feed a generator for free.
  • Heavy water needs the Filter Upgrade while the pump is set on water; it does not slow the pump down, it changes what comes out.
  • The Source Stabilizer Upgrade has its own slot, not the Upgrades tab: shift‑right‑click the pump with it, or drop it straight into that slot. Mekanism’s own list of upgrades is closed, so an addon cannot add to it.
