JEI, EMI, Jade and WTHIT

Optional support for four information mods: recipe pages in JEI and in EMI, a machine overlay in Jade and in WTHIT.

TypeOptional integrations
Added in1.1.0 (Quantum Ore Refinery lines in 1.2.0; forges and Overclocker in 1.3; EMI in 1.3)
RequiredNo: none of the four is needed, and none is bundled with the addon
VersionsOn 1.21.1: JEI 19.25.1.332 or later; Jade 15.10 or later; WTHIT 12.10.2 or later. On 1.20.1: JEI 15.56.0.205 or later; Jade 11.12.3 or later; WTHIT 8.19.3 or later. (1.2.1; before, any version loaded). EMI, on both versions: built against EMI 1.1.24, no minimum version is required (1.3)
Where it runsJEI and EMI on the client; Jade and WTHIT on the client and the server

JEI, Jade and WTHIT each have a lowest version that Mekanism: Engineering was tried with (the ones in the table above). EMI has none: any version is loaded. If an older one is installed, Minecraft stops at start-up and the loading screen names the mod and the version it wants; update that mod, or remove it, and the addon works without it. Before 1.2.1, an older WTHIT was not refused at start-up and could fail later, when a machine was looked at.

If you install JEI, EMI, Jade or WTHIT next to Mekanism: Engineering, the addon adds its own recipe pages and its own overlay lines. Without them the addon behaves exactly as before: nothing is loaded, nothing is asked, and nothing in the addon’s settings changes. Each of the four works on its own; Jade and WTHIT can be installed together.

  • One category for the Petrogenic Synthesizer and one for the Petrogenic Synthesis Plant, each listing every petrogenic recipe that is loaded (the 13 products by default, plus any a datapack or modpack adds). A recipe page shows the duration, the output in blocks a second, the energy (a tick and a cycle), and the water and lava it takes. The Plant’s category shows one line’s figures and the total for its eight identical lines (“Mineral synthesis · one line”). The machine is the category’s catalyst, so asking JEI for the machine’s uses lists the recipes.
  • Try the upgrades. The panel has two small steppers, Speed Upgrades and Energy Upgrades (0 to 8; Shift-click jumps to none or the most). They only change the figures you read; their tooltip says “Consultation only: nothing is applied to any machine”. In the Synthesizer, Speed Upgrades also raise the water and lava a cycle takes, and the tooltip says so.
  • Where the figures come from. They are read from the machine’s own rules and the server’s settings, not typed in. On a server they follow its settings (“Nominal · server values”); on a title screen, or if the server sent none, they are the addon’s defaults (“Nominal · default values”). They are nominal: what a machine really pays can differ a little (whole millibuckets and joules, work shared between ticks).
  • Information pages for the addon’s blocks and items (the Quantum Network Tablet has one in 1.2), each with what the thing does, what it needs, what it gives, and a “Good to know” list with the figures that apply (for example the zone and the vault size of the Precision Upgrade Controller). Pages for things crafted from a filled machine also carry a “Before crafting” note on what happens to the fluids.
  • Quantum Ore Refinery page. A page for the Quantum Ore Refinery structure: a 3D view you can turn, the four layers one by one, and the list of parts, plus a help sheet for each of the 22 blocks of the structure. The Jade line “See JEI: layer N of M” sends you there.
  • Forges and Overclocker (1.3). Every new block has an information page: the Alloy Forge, the Circuit Forge, their four factories each, and the Time Overclocker (page “Time Overclocking”: the speed of each tier and the three rules).
  • Alloy Forging and Circuit Forging categories for the recipes of the two forges.
  • Crafting recipes, moving ingredients into a crafting grid and the filters’ ghost ingredients are JEI’s and Mekanism’s own, left as they are.

Added in 1.3. EMI shows the same pages as JEI, with the same figures read from the same place (the machine’s own rules and the server’s settings), laid out for EMI’s recipe screen:

  • Alloy Forging and Circuit Forging categories, with the forges and their factories as workstations (EMI’s “uses” on a forge lists the recipes).
  • One category for the Petrogenic Synthesizer and one for the Petrogenic Synthesis Plant with every loaded recipe, the two Speed and Energy Upgrade steppers (consultation only) and the machine as workstation.
  • Quantum Ore Refinery pages: the structure (3D view, the parts grid and the sheet of the part picked; every block of the structure opens it) and one page for each ore the refinery works, with the x1 to x5 tabs. EMI gives a page no mouse wheel, so the 3D view is zoomed with the two small - and + buttons beside Reset, or with the - and + keys while the pointer is over it. Drag to turn it; R resets it and the arrow keys turn it, as in JEI.
  • Information pages for the addon’s blocks and items, as in JEI (the figures follow the server’s settings the same way).
  • The Time Overclocker is hidden when the server switched it off. A change of that switch shows at the next time you join or reload.

Without JEI, EMI is all you need for these pages. Crafting recipes and moving ingredients into a crafting grid are EMI’s own and Mekanism’s own, left as they are.

Both draw the same lines in the same words: a compact view by default, and more detail while you hold the details key (in Jade, its own “show details” key). WTHIT shows the details all the time by default, or while you sneak if you turn its “Shift for details” option on. The compact view has the machine’s state and gauges; the detail view adds exact amounts and extra lines. A line saying so appears when there is more to see.

MachineCompact viewWith the details key
Quantum Chargepad“Ready”, “Charging” or “Reserve empty” (no energy bar of ours)Nothing more
Quantum Energy ReceiverThe frequency you are allowed to use, or “No frequency”; never a stored-energy bar
Radioactive Quantum EntangloporterThe frequency, an energy bar, a bar for the radioactive chemical it holds, and “Locked: radioactive matter inside” when it is lockedThe frequency’s access mode
Quantum Network ControllerIts name only
Quantum Ore Refinery (controller)“Multiblock formed · Running at xN” or “Multiblock formed · state”, “Level cap xN · energy/t”, gauges for the four stocks; an unformed structure says “Expected block at (X, Y, Z)” and “See JEI: layer N of M”
Ore Refinery ports“Mode: Items / Fluids / Gases” or “Not part of a formed refinery”; the Output Port adds “Ejects to: N neighbours”“Configurator, sneak + right-click: change mode” on Input Ports, “Products waiting: N” on the Output Port
Industrial Fluid PumpIts state, the input line (“Input: OK” or the cause), a bar for the fluid in its tank“Flow” in mB/t, “Source Stabilizer installed” or “No Source Stabilizer”
Petrogenic SynthesizerThe chosen product, its state, bars for energy, water and lava“Speed: N blocks/s”, “Upgrades: Speed N, Energy N”
Petrogenic Synthesis PlantIts state, “Lines: N set, M producing”, up to three products, bars for energy, water and lavaModule counts, the lines that wait and for what, ”+ N other products: see the screen”
Precision Logistical DistributorIts state and a “Stock” bar over the real capacity of its nine slots, red from 90 % with “Stock almost full” or “Stock full”The mode and “Wait for every output: on” or “off”, the number of outputs
Precision Upgrade ControllerThe upgrades held in its vault, or “No upgrade in reserve”
Quantum Digital MinerIts state (“Ready to search”, “Searching”, “Mining”, “Paused”, …), the cause when mining is held up, the first three active filters (or “Exclusion filters” in inverse mode, or “No active filter”; an inverse miner with no filter shows no filter line), and, once a search is finished, a progress bar and “N blocks left”The filters by name (“Iron Ore”), a tag or a mod by its id (#c:ores, @create), “Search: N blocks found”, “Radius N · Y a to b” (with “Silk touch” when it is on)

The Alloy Forge, the Circuit Forge and their factories show their state, a progress bar (or “Lines: N working of M” on a factory), the chosen Max, an energy bar and one bar per reservoir; the Circuit Forge adds the reserve of each alloy. The Time Overclocker shows what it is doing (accelerating N machines, or why it is not), its speed (“limited” when a machine ceiling applies) and an energy bar; the energy used per tick appears in the detailed view.

A gauge always shows the real stock over the real capacity, never a zero in place of a missing figure: a gauge whose capacity cannot be read is left out, and the Distributor’s stock says “Unavailable”. Each colour is doubled by words.

  • Mekanism’s own access rules apply, asked on the server for the player who looks: a machine you may not use shows its name and “Restricted access”, and no line of ours (with WTHIT, Mekanism’s own energy and fluid lines may still show: see below; the Quantum Network Controller shows only its name to everyone). A Receiver or an Entangloporter shows its frequency only if you are allowed to use that frequency; a private frequency of someone else stays private.
  • A block is read at most once every 5 ticks for each player, however many times the overlay asks, and reading it never starts a scan, loads a chunk or creates anything.
  • If another mod’s code fails during a read, it is logged once and the overlay shows no line of ours; it cannot break a tick.

Mekanism ships its own Jade and WTHIT support, which adds energy, fluid and chemical lines to its blocks and, without a player check, to any block that answers the usual capabilities.

  • With Jade, those lines are hidden on the addon’s machines, and so is Jade’s own item list, so each stock shows once.
  • With WTHIT, Mekanism’s lines cannot be hidden by another mod (they carry no identifier), so on some machines you see both the addon’s gauge and Mekanism’s: for example on the Industrial Fluid Pump, the Petrogenic Synthesizer and Plant, the Quantum Digital Miner, the Quantum Chargepad and the Precision Upgrade Controller. Mekanism shows those lines to every player, as it does on its own machines. The addon still hides WTHIT’s own energy, fluid, item and progress lines on its machines.
  • On the Quantum Energy Receivers and the Radioactive Quantum Entangloporter, nothing is read from the block’s inside, so neither Mekanism’s overlay lines nor The One Probe’s can show a private frequency or a “0 FE / Infinite” bar there.

In Jade’s configuration the addon’s lines are the option “Machine HUDs” under “Mekanism: Engineering”. Or simply do not install the mod: nothing of the addon depends on it.

Every block of a formed refinery answers Jade and WTHIT with the refinery’s own lines; the table above lists them. Mekanism’s access rules apply as for the other machines.

  • Nothing appears in Jade or WTHIT: check that the mod is installed on the server as well as the client (both run their data on the server), and that you are looking at one of the machines in the table above.
  • An overlay that shows two energy bars on a machine is WTHIT with Mekanism’s lines (see above); Jade hides them.
  • JEI does not show the Petrogenic categories: they need JEI 19.25.1.332 or later, and they list the petrogenic recipes the world you are in has loaded.
